Bayer Sued Over Yaz Birth Control Pill
Posted by PKSD Law Firm on Jul 20, 2009 in Dangerous Drugs
Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceutical is facing four federal lawsuits one of which was filed in Wisconsin over the safety of its birth control pills Yaz and Yasmin.
The lawsuits come after an agreement reached between the Food & Drug Administration and Bayer in 2008 calling for Bayer to run a $20 million corrective ad campaign for overstating the benefits of Yaz and downplaying its risks.
The lawsuits allege that Bayer failed to warn women and their doctors of the pills increased risk of injury while overpromoting the benefits of the drugs. Yaz has additional risks compared to other birth control pills such as blood clots.
