A report from the World Health Organization states that traffic accidents is the biggest killer of children worldwide.  Accidents kill 260,000 children a year and injure approximately 10 million.  They are the leading cause of death among youths ages 10 to 19.

Although, infectious diseases and malnutrition remain the biggest threats to infants, experts say once a child reaches age 9, injuries become the leading cause of death.
