Milwaukee Police are warning residents of a man posing as a plain clothes detective.
According to police, the culprit has struck at least 10 times in three south side neighborhoods over the past four days. They also said the suspect appeared to be targeting the elderly.
Police are warning residents that if someone comes to the door posing as a police officer or detective, dont let them in until you see identification, a badge or an identification card.
Authorities said the man comes to the front door, presents himself as a detective investigating a crime that happened a few houses down, and then distracts them while he steals wallets and cash.
Police have also said a different man is working a similar scam posing as a Milwaukee Water Department worker. If you have any information, or want to report a similar case, please call the Milwaukee police at 414-935-7360.
