PKSD Connects With the Milwaukee Community at Laborfest

Labor Day is about more than marking the end of summer. It is an opportunity to recognize the workers whose efforts have helped secure protections and benefits that many people rely on today, including weekends, overtime pay, workplace protections, and vacation time.
Each year, Milwaukee celebrates that history with Laborfest, one of the largest Labor Day celebrations in the country. Organized by unions and union members of the Milwaukee Area Labor Council, AFL-CIO, the event brings workers, families, local organizations, and businesses together for a day on Milwaukee’s lakefront.
This year, PKSD was proud to participate in Laborfest and connect directly with members of the Milwaukee community. Our team hosted a “Do You Have a Case?” table that was free and open to the public, giving attendees an opportunity to stop by, ask questions, and learn more about their legal rights.
Celebrating Milwaukee’s Workers and Families
Laborfest has become an important Milwaukee tradition. The annual event begins with a parade through downtown Milwaukee, featuring union members marching, riding motorcycles, and driving trucks with their local unions. The parade ends at the Henry Maier Festival Grounds, where Laborfest takes place.
Once there, attendees can enjoy activities for adults and children, including live music, entertainment, bingo, wrestling, a classic car show, and a union raffle. The celebration is free and open to the public.
For PKSD, participating in Laborfest was an opportunity to support an event that celebrates the people who help keep Milwaukee and Wisconsin moving.
PKSD’s “Do You Have a Case?” Table
Personal injury law can be confusing, especially when someone has recently been hurt. People often know that something went wrong, but may not know whether another person or business can be held legally responsible.
That is why PKSD hosted a “Do You Have a Case?” table at Laborfest.
The table was open to anyone who wanted to stop by and speak with our team. Attendees could ask questions about personal injury law and get a better understanding of whether certain circumstances might provide grounds for a legal claim.
The idea also reflects PKSD’s broader “Case or No Case?” initiative, which uses real-life scenarios to explain when an injured person might have a valid personal injury case. The goal is to make complicated legal concepts easier to understand and help people become more informed about their rights.
When Might You Have a Personal Injury Case?
Not every accident gives someone the right to compensation. Generally, a personal injury claim arises when another person or organization acts negligently and causes someone else to suffer an injury.
Depending on the circumstances, a claim could involve:
Another incident caused by careless or wrongful conduct
Determining whether you have a case usually requires looking closely at what happened, who may have been responsible, the evidence available, and the injuries and losses you experienced.
That is one reason opportunities to ask legal questions in a comfortable community setting can be valuable. You may discover that you have legal options you had not previously considered.
