Three medical professionals, two nurses and one health aide, were arrested Wednesday, June 24, for their alleged callous mistreatment of a 51 year-old man who had been badly injured.
The nursing home resident, who suffers from mental and physical disabilities, fell on his back in a hallway next to a nurses station in the Peninsula Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Queens, NY, on October 23.
Footage of the incident, which was recently released, shows that none of the nurses helped the patient who was bleeding from his head and jaw, struggling to get up.
Eventually, one nurse grabbed the victim by the arm and dragged him back to his room. Less than 30 minutes later, the victim emerged from his room still bleeding and struggling to get to his feet.
The nurses continued to work in the area ignoring the patient for 20 minutes before the nurse grabbed him again, this time by the back of his gown, and dragged him back to his room.
The man suffered injuries to his head and neck and was later transported to a hospital for emergency treatment.
This incident is an extreme case of nursing home abuse and neglect and one that you hope to never witness. When this type of situation becomes reality, it is important to immediately report the abuse and then call a personal injury lawyer in Milwaukee who can advise you on the best course of legal action to get the justice you deserve.
