A man residing in a Pennsylvania assisted living facility was kicked out and subsequently lost his housing subsidy after a prostitute was found hiding under his bed.
The gentleman, said to be in his 70s, was described as more mobile than other residents. According to authorities, he regularly used his mobility to make booze runs for his neighbors, bringing back the liquor and selling it for a profit. Reportedly, he would pay for prostitutes with the money from his booze business.
Though the facility often turned a blind eye to the mans usual alcohol dealings, when staff discovered a prostitute under his bed, he was asked to leave. Neither the man nor the home have been identified.
According to County Chief Financial Officer Uri Monson, the overall number of people receiving subsidies for assisted living in Montgomery County has declined in recent years because of deaths. Because the man was evicted for misconduct, the county is no longer required to continue to pay for him to live in an assisted living home.
County commissioners learned of the incident shortly after signing off on one-year renewal contracts totaling more than a half a million dollars with three private nursing homes who are housing residents of a previously closed county-owned facility. The county paid more than $1 million to subsidize living for 21 seniors last year.
