Preparing for a new school year can be an exciting time for students and families. It can also mean buying backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and other supplies children need in the classroom.
PKSD was proud to participate in the fourth annual Telemundo Wisconsin and Alverno College Backpack Giveaway on Aug. 4, 2026. The Milwaukee event helped local students prepare for the upcoming school year by providing backpacks filled with essential school supplies.
Telemundo Wisconsin, WYTU-TV, held the event in collaboration with Alverno College. According to the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, more than 400 people attended the 2026 backpack drive.
Hundreds of children came to Alverno College to receive new Telemundo backpacks stocked with supplies for the school year. Telemundo Wisconsin anchors Miguel Ramírez and Gilmarie Morales greeted families and helped distribute more than 200 backpacks.
Alverno College also provided educational resource tables and activities during the event. Together, the participating organizations and community partners helped create an afternoon centered on students, families, and preparing for the classroom.
Back-to-school supplies are an important part of helping students feel prepared when they return to class. A new backpack and basic classroom materials can give children the tools they need to begin the year ready to learn.
Events like the Telemundo Wisconsin and Alverno College Backpack Giveaway bring community organizations together to help meet those needs. Now in its fourth year, the event has become an annual opportunity to support Milwaukee-area families as summer comes to an end.
PKSD was pleased to take part in this year’s giveaway and help provide backpacks and school supplies to local students. The firm values opportunities to support organizations and events that make a positive difference for families throughout the Milwaukee community.
The annual backpack giveaway reflects the impact local organizations can make when they work toward a shared goal. Telemundo Wisconsin, Alverno College, event partners, and volunteers helped hundreds of people participate in an event designed to give students a strong start to the school year.
PKSD was honored to be among those supporting the 2026 event. The firm looks forward to continuing its community involvement in programs and initiatives that serve families throughout Milwaukee and the surrounding areas.
