The Every 15 Minutes campaign aims to educate students of the dangers that could occur from drinking and driving. Approximately every 15 minutes in the United States, there is a drunk driving fatality.
Outside Germantown High School, an accident scene was staged, simulating a drunk driving crash. Students were made up to appear injured or worse, illustrating real drunk driving consequences for their classmates. A mock funeral was held the following day, along with a school assembly.
With prom season quickly approaching, the participating students wanted to share with their classmates the realities that could take place, should they choose to drink and drive.
While the number of high school students who drink and drive has fallen 54 percent since 1991, it is still a very real and dangerous problem affecting teens across the nation.
To help prevent fatal drinking and driving among teens, parents are urged to get involved with their children. Zero tolerance laws are also in play in many localities across the nation in efforts to combat the behavior and protect others on the roads.
If you or someone you loved has been injured or killed in a drunk driving accident, you may be entitled to compensation to pay for lost wages, medical bills, funeral costs and other expenses. Contact our experienced auto accident lawyers for a free, no obligation consultation.
