Iowa prosecutors have filed charges against two nurses from a nursing home in Elkader, Iowa, for abuse of a patient that occurred in March. Charges include dependent adult abuse, wanton neglect of a resident of a health care facility and tampering with records.
According to court documents, the two nurses allegedly denied a resident the food, medical care and medications he or she required.
Documents also show the nurses falsified records at the facility to cover up their actions. For example, the nurses noted that they had given the patient the necessary medications even though they had not.
An administrator of the facility stated that she could not comment on this situation, or whether the two nurses who have been charged with nursing home abuse are still employed at the facility.
