The National Weather Services has issued an advisory for commuters in southeastern Wisconsin due to a frozen mix expected to last from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 3.
Motorists on the commute to and from work may experience low visibility and dangerously slick roads while sleet, snow and freezing rain makes its way across the state.
Milwaukee Police Department even tweeted a warning to drivers at 11 a.m. this morning, reminding them to drive cautiously and expect delays. Between 6 and 9 a.m. alone, authorities responded to 38 collisions on snow-covered roads.
All throughout the winter, but especially on days like today, it is critical to remember the basics of driving safely on slick, iced-over roads.
The snow that blew in this morning is expected to taper off later in the day, bringing in its wake a mix of freezing rain, sleet and slushy road conditions. Take care to watch for black ice, which can be very difficult for drivers to detect, and remember not to rubberneck if you see other accidents happening around you.
Weather conditions can certainly have an impact on a persons ability to control their car, but if the driver is negligent before the accident happens then they should be held accountable for their actions.
