An 18-year-old teen driver is facing charges for reckless homicide after allegedly causing a car accident that killed his 16-year-old sister on March 6, 2017.
Police reported that the Chevy Tahoe the teens were in struck a cement truck after the driver lost control of the vehicle. The 16-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died at the scene.
Investigators have revealed that the crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on South 13th Street and Bolivar Ave, shortly after the two teens were released from school.
The brother is believed to have been street-racing another vehicle when he lost control of his own as he attempted to brake for the cement truck.
The brother was later taken to the hospital where he was treated for severe injuries caused by the car crash. He is now facing criminal charges of reckless homicide in relation to the crash.
