Germantown Police said that at least six people have been transported to hospitals, and the crash involved at least eight vehicles two semi trucks and at least six cars.
We have five patients transported to Community Memorial Hospital, and one who had to be extricated and transported to Froedtert (Hospital in Wauwatosa), Chief Peter Hoell told Newsradio 620 WTMJ.
Hoell told TODAYS TMJ4′s Melissa McCrady during a news conference that the person who went to Froedtert had serious injuries, but was responsive.
He also explained that more people could be injured, or perhaps may have suffered a worse fate.
Were still checking the wreckage.
Chief Hoell said hazmat crews also went to the scene because one of the semis appeared to be spilling diesel fuel.
Preliminary indications seem to show that a semi going northbound apparently crossed the median, went into the southbound lanes and crashed into other vehicles going southbound; however, Germantown Police did not confirm those details.
